MISZCZYK: Active Surplus was one of my favourite places on earth. One day I picked up some old payphone handsets, some 1/4" tapes, and a spring reverb tank. All three of which appear on this song. I think about Active Surplus a lot. I wish it was still there.
Marker Starling: “The snow flies but still the leaves are green on my tree” - Nyles sent me the instrumental track for the song, which I immediately loved, and asked me to write something lighthearted and McCartneyesque, a directive which, longtime student of McCartney that I am, I was more than happy to comply with. That line about the leaves still being green while the snow was flying was, unsurprisingly, based on a real-life observation of a tree with green leaves in an early snowstorm.
